Goldie Mohr legacy lives on

Providing MOHR Value Since 1960

In 1960, Goldie Mohr gave up working for other local contractors and went into business for himself as an owner operator with a single-axle truck and the strength
of his word.

Fifty years later, Goldie Mohr Ltd. has evolved into one of the National Capital Region’s most reliable trucking and heavy civil general contractors, with its signature blue trucks and golden horseshoe logo familiar throughout Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.

Goldie built the busi- ness with a truck, a back-hoe and a desire to help others with everything from building a road, to a community church or a family dream home.
While times have changed since the days when Goldie operated his busi-
ness on a hand shake rather than with fine print, his principles still guide
the business through his daughter, Deborah Mohr-Caldwell, who serves as
owner, vice-president and director. Management of the company is shared
with president and controller Ann McKenna and professional engineer Glen Buch.

“Everyone was Goldie’s friend because he treated them like a friend,” said Mohr-
Caldwell. “I still take that approach today and ensure that everyone who works with
us understands that we do what we say we will do. I am always asking staff what it was they have said to a client, because I will have to back that up.”
